Your pay is based on the time and distance of a ride (and you get to keep 100% of your tips, of course). Lyft then deducts its fees from the total. Bridge, tunnel, and turnpike tolls are included in your payout at the end of the ride, so there’s no need to ever ask passengers to pay cash for tolls.
All payments are made through the Lyft Driver app, so you’ll need to add your banking info to get paid. Once set up, we’ll deposit your earnings on Tuesdays. It may take a few days for your bank to process the transaction.
To track how much you’ve earned and review your ride history, visit the Earnings tab on the home screen.
Every Tuesday, we’ll start the payment process for money earned within the last seven days. Depending how long it takes your bank to process the deposit, it may take 2-3 business days before your earnings show up in your account. If you need your cash sooner, you may be able to use Express Pay.
Find the Lyft Driver app in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store and download to your smartphone.
Make sure to tap Allow when the app asks to access your location — we’ll need to know where you are in order to match you with rides!
All payments are made through the Lyft Driver app, so you’ll need to add your banking info to get paid.
Open your app and follow these steps:
Go to the Dashboard
Tap Payment information and enter your tax info
Tip: Most drivers pick the Individual classification from the drop-down menu. Not sure? Ask a tax professional.
Then, go to the Bank info section and tap Add bank info. Enter your routing and account numbers (find them on your checks or through your bank)!
We’ll deposit your earnings into your bank account of choice on Tuesdays.
You can also set up Express Pay if you want the option to cash out earnings at any time. (You can use this feature anytime you’ve earned at least $5.50 — note there is a $0.50 transfer fee, and some banks may take a few days to process the transaction so check with your bank for any specific details.)
To set up Express Pay, open your app and follow these steps:
Go to Settings in the side menu, then tap Payment info
Under Express Pay, tap Add debit card to input your info
Note: You must enter your debit card info before cashing out for the first time
To deposit your earnings, tap Get Paid
Express Pay requires a valid debit card issued in the United States. Pre-paid cards aren’t compatible with Express Pay
If an Express Pay transfer fails, you’ll be asked to update your debit card information
If your bank doesn’t support immediate transfers, your earnings will be directly deposited instead
In short, you're paid based on time, distance, and the base rates for your region. Lyft deducts fees and you keep the rest (along with 100% of your tips, of course). Get more details
