Lyft Rewards Expanding in 2021
As we roll into 2021, Lyft is excited to announce some new changes to Lyft Rewards, our driver loyalty program that recognizes the drive, dedication and incredible service of our best drivers.
Starting this month, we are expanding Lyft Rewards to 30 new cities nationally, including across California. Now, more drivers can take advantage of the benefits of Lyft Rewards - including access to exclusive features, savings on auto expenses, and additional discounts - to make the most of their time on the road. Check your Driver app to see Lyft Rewards details in your market.
We’re also introducing a new, more holistic key to unlocking Lyft Rewards. After listening to feedback from drivers, we heard you that passenger ratings don't always tell the whole story - especially when reviews are about something outside of drivers' control, like a bad traffic jam. That’s why we’re introducing “driving score” as the new key to unlock Lyft Rewards in many markets.
Driving score will give drivers a more holistic understanding of how they’re doing, by taking into account a combination of driver stats and the service drivers provide to passengers. With driving score, drivers will also receive more specific insights to help them take it to the next level. They’ll be able to see a breakdown of their driving score anytime in the Driver app, so they’ll have clear direction on where they shine - and how they can improve - to ensure they’re on track to unlock rewards.
By March, we expect to introduce driving score to 245 markets, where it will replace passenger ratings as the minimum qualifying criteria to unlock Lyft Rewards.
And we’re evolving program benefits to better align to what we’ve heard drivers value. This includes sunsetting the redeemable points system that exists in some markets, and launching Priority Mode as a benefit for Platinum drivers in select markets. All markets will still have tiers that unlock access to exclusive offerings and we’re adding exciting new rewards — to be announced in 2021. We’ll let you know when new rewards roll out in your city.
We believe that this Lyft Rewards expansion and evolution will help us deliver an even better program that meaningfully recognizes our drivers for going the extra mile, and we look forward to sharing more exciting news in the coming months.
