What should I expect as a driver of a Lyft Assisted ride?
For Lyft Assisted rides, drivers generally start by finding a spot where they can park for a few minutes while they locate their rider. After parking, they walk to the front door of the pickup location, and offer the rider light assistance, which may include providing an arm, elbow, or hand for assisting with stability, opening and closing doors, or storing small personal belongings.
How do I know if a ride is an Assisted ride?
When you get a ride request, you’ll see the phrase “Lyft Assisted ride” at the bottom of your app before accepting.
What might passengers expect?
We want you to continue to provide the top-notch service you already provide every day. Lyft Assisted is a great option for a wide range of riders, including elderly patients, people who might have some difficulty seeing or hearing, people who might be a bit unsteady on their feet, or those who want a hand getting to and from medical appointments.
Riders may want a little extra help, which means walking your passenger from the door to your vehicle.
You don't need to provide support beyond the passenger's front door. You are also not expected to lift or carry the passenger, or act as a caregiver. The tutorial by the Open Doors Organization will walk you through the steps on how to best assist passengers.
