Lyft is a leading micromobility operator in North America, serving 47 million shared bike and scooter rides last year across 14 cities. In 2021, over 2.4 million people* in the US tried Lyft-operated bikes and scooters for the first time - and it’s easy to see why. The sensation of wind in our hair, sun on our skin, and hearts beating in our chests made us all feel alive and remember just how fun bikes are. So for those that may think, “I’m really not a bike person,” Lyft has a message for them—Yes, You Are a Bike Person.
Today, we’re announcing Lyft’s first-ever national ad campaign focused entirely on bikeshare. It will launch in select markets the week of May 2nd and is slated to roll out to more Lyft bikeshare markets later that month, showing up in cities across the US just in time for Bike Month.
It features a diverse cast of unexpected riders; people of all walks of life, who now live, breathe, and use bikeshare in different aspects of their everyday lives. An office worker hurriedly taking sips of water before hitting send on the last email of the day, a stylish fashionista flashing her bright, bike blinkers at a red carpet premiere, a dad loading his bike helmet with pieces of fruit like a grocery basket, and a woman pedaling triumphantly and easily in her brand new heels…from the boardroom to the wide open park, we meet many types of bikeshare riders along the way. The campaign captures each character in their truest form - anticipating that next ride and then experiencing the joy that comes with it.
The Yes, You Are a Bike Person campaign is co-branded with Lyft’s bikeshare programs around the nation-–including Citi Bike in NYC, Bay Wheels in San Francisco, Divvy in Chicago, and more––and will appear across Lyft’s digital channels, bike stations, streaming services, and even in Times Square.
Today, Lyft is also announcing the arrival of its award-winning next generation ebike, which will join the Citi Bike fleet in NYC starting May 5. This new electric bike, which will initially only be available to Lyft Pink and Citi Bike members at launch, is more powerful than ever, with a variety of innovative features that give riders a fun, sustainable way to get around the city.
Additionally, Lyft is also publishing its 2022 Multimodal Report today, which highlights shared micromobility trends. The report shows record-breaking ridership and demand, mirroring an accelerating global bike boom, and the results of Lyft’s work to expand transportation access to underserved communities through micromobility by providing low-cost membership options for income-qualifying riders.
Lyft looks forward to shining a spotlight on all things related to bikeshare through the Yes, You Are a Bike Person campaign, and encouraging more people to get out and ride.
