Lyft introduces new features to de-stress holiday travel
41 percent* of Americans say they worry more during the holidays than at any other time of the year — thanks in large part to travel stress. That's why, just in time for the holidays, Lyft has launched a series of features to make travel simple, more reliable, and less stressful.
Starting today, scheduled rides to the airport will be covered by our on-time pickup promise in many major markets. You’ll know we’ve got you if you see the promise in the app. A ride will be there when you need it – or we’ll make it right.
“Every minute counts when you’re on the way to the airport,” said David Risher, Lyft CEO. “We’re so confident that we can get you there on time that if we’re more than ten minutes late for your scheduled pick-up, we’ll give you up to $100 in Lyft credits to make up for it –even if you take a taxi or an Ub*r.”
Lyft’s on-time pick up promise is the latest improvement to Lyft’s scheduled ride features. When you schedule a ride, you can book rides up to 30 days in advance, lock in your price, and set your preferred pick up time.
To help ensure all of your scheduled rides will be there when you need them, drivers can accept the ride in advance and they earn more on scheduled rides than standard rides. Scheduled rides are also the first priority to be matched to a driver.
If you’re not picked up-on time for a scheduled ride to the airport, you’ll automatically get Lyft Cash credit.
$15 Lyft Cash if your driver is more than 10 minutes late.
$50 Lyft Cash automatically if you’re not matched with a driver 10 minutes after your scheduled pickup time.
And if you need to use another service for your ride to the airport, you’ll get up to $50 more Lyft Cash – up to $100 total – even if you take a taxi or an Ub*r. You only need to tap ‘Help’ in the Lyft app and submit the receipt.
This season, Lyft is also introducing Extra Comfort mode, an affordable everyday upgrade to your rideshare experience. If you’re looking to kick back and relax on the way to the airport or come home from a holiday party, Extra Comfort offers roomier cars, top-rated drivers, and the ability to request a quiet ride or help with luggage. Extra Comfort is available to most riders starting today.
These new improvements to the Lyft platform come on the heels of the recent launch of Women+ Connect, which allows women and non-binary drivers in select cities to increase their chances of matching with more women and nonbinary riders.
"Women carry a disproportionate amount of holiday stress, taking on the mental load of planning celebrations, travel, and all the logistics that come with it. Our goal is to make getting where you’re going easier and less stressful. Whether you’re getting the family to the airport or coming home from a late-night holiday party, Lyft is making life easier and stress-free,” said Jody Kelman, EVP of Customers at Lyft.
