Every Lyft ride consists of two journeys. The riders, of course, are getting from point A to point B. But drivers are often on their own journeys — making extra money to accomplish their goals. To hear what journeys our drivers are taking in 2025, we reached out to several of them and asked for their New Year’s resolutions, and how driving can help them achieve them.
Bryan Yniguez, Las Vegas
We have three teenagers and one eight-year-old. My goal is to save for their college education. So I gotta keep doing the late nights because here in Vegas, the nightlife is where you make that money. But my other resolution is to appreciate every day, every moment I get with them. Because once they’re 18, 19 years old, they venture off, you know?
Claude Chalk, Philadelphia
Jupiter is moving into my ascendant space, and Jupiter is the planet of wisdom, abundance, and spirituality, a planet of learning from the gurus and acquiring new gifts. So my New Year’s resolution is to travel to spiritual retreats — meditation retreats, yoga retreats, silent retreats. So I’m getting my passport ready. I want to get back in tune with my inner self and be in a more peaceful, serene space.
Jamie Petrus, Cleveland
My long-term plan is to build a house off the grid in Jamaica. But I need more assets to do the work for me, so I’m trying to get a multifamily home and rent out the other units. And I love love, but this year, I’m looking for somebody that is at my level, somebody to help me with my goals — a partner.
Ladine Harvey, Miami
I currently work for the Broward Sheriff’s Department. It would be awesome to move up to deputy. Another resolution is to meet my husband. I would like to start moving in the direction of having my own family. The dating pool is rough, but I have faith. I do.
Rob Michalowski, Ann Arbor
The big goal for me and for my family is getting out of debt. No credit card debt, no consumer debt. And then once we do, it’ll just be so freeing. We can really start to enjoy our retirement — go visit our son down in Asheville, North Carolina, or my wife’s sisters in Florida for a couple weeks. Or rent a hotel for a night on Lake Michigan, instead of driving back the same day. If that debt was gone, we’d have the freedom to do that.
Suzette Wright, Chicago
I would like to complete 30,000 rides. I know that seems like a lot, but I’ve already got 25,000 under my belt! And hopefully grow my social media — @LadyLyftDriver on Instagram — so more of my passengers can further experience the fun long after the ride is over. Third, I wanna lose some weight. It’s just a thing. And lastly, the most important goal that I have for 2025 is to continue my activism. It is important that I lend my voice to eradicate gender-based violence as much as humanly possible. And it is the reason that I started driving with Lyft. The flexibility allows me the opportunity to lend my voice to the voiceless.
