From day one, creating an inclusive and diverse workforce has been a priority at Lyft - not just because it’s the right thing to do, but because it’s right for the business. As we work to reimagine cities, we know that I&D is critical to address the needs of the communities we serve.
Today we’re excited to announce that Monica Poindexter, a leader with over fifteen years of experience, has joined Lyft as the head of Inclusion & Diversity. Monica will lead the development and implementation of Lyft’s inclusion and diversity strategy, by ensuring that I&D is integrated into the strategic business goals, people strategies, and processes for every team and touchpoint across the organization.
Whether investing in transportation equity in cities like Oakland with Lyft bikes and scooters, developing a notification system to alert riders of a driver who is deaf or hard-of-hearing and providing helpful Sign Language phrases, or providing discounted transportation to grocery stores in food deserts, we are continuously working to seek to better understand and address the needs and interests of our communities across the country. With Monica’s strategic guidance, we’ll continue to bring these priorities to the forefront of every initiative across the organization, to ensure our senior leaders are intentionally integrating I&D into their core business and talent strategies from the very beginning.
Monica comes to Lyft from Facebook, where she was the Global Head of Diversity Business Partners, primarily focusing on cultivating an inclusive culture and building a diverse global talent pool. Prior to that, she was the head of D&I at Roche Diagnostics, working closely with the CEO and senior leaders to design and execute a holistic five year D&I strategy, and before that at Genentech, as the Head of Diversity and Inclusion where she led a department responsible for workforce compliance, development and execution of the Pharma North America D&I strategy and external partnerships for over eight years.
