Lyft Welcomes Jill Beggs to Board of Directors

Jan 3, 2024

Today, Lyft announced that Jill Beggs, Head of North America Reinsurance at Everest, has joined Lyft’s Board of Directors, effective December 31, 2023. She will also serve as a member of the Audit Committee. Beggs is the latest director to join Lyft’s Board following labor economist Betsey Stevenson in November and brand expert Janey Whiteside in July.

“Jill is one of the best of the best. She’s an extraordinary, disciplined operator, and her expertise in risk management is as deep as the Mariana trench,” said Lyft CEO David Risher. “I am delighted to welcome Jill to the board.”

“Insurance is a critical part of the rideshare model, and an important daily safeguard for everyone driving and riding with Lyft,” said Jill Beggs. “I look forward to joining this customer-obsessed board to share my knowledge and help steer the company in 2024 and beyond.”

Beggs is a transformational business leader driving collaboration, transparency, and profitable growth with more than three decades of insurance underwriting experience. She began her career at Everest in the 1990s and rejoined in 2021 to oversee the strategic direction of its reinsurance business in North America, where she is also an Executive Sponsor of the DEI Council and the Veteran’s Employee Resource Group. Prior to her current role at Everest, Beggs spent two decades at Munich Re where she led U.S. treaty and facultative reinsurance programs across multiple lines of business. She also spearheaded the company’s innovation incubator and E&S insurance start-up.

Beggs holds a Bachelor of Arts in management with a concentration in finance and minors in math and Spanish from Gettysburg College. She is an optimistic and trusted leader, and the recipient of numerous industry honors and awards including the 2023 Business Insurance Women to Watch Award.

She resides in New Jersey and appreciates the reliability of Lyft for her family members. She also loves riding with Lyft to the airport to catch a flight to her next adventure.
