Today we’re excited to announce our partnership with the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA), a leading non-profit that addresses solutions to behavioral highway safety issues. GHSA has a critical role in our community — the association represents the State and territorial highway safety offices that implement Federal grant programs for highway safety issues, and is collaborating with key partners to achieve Vision Zero, a movement to eliminate roadway deaths.
Alongside the expertise of the GHSA, we will support innovative state-led programs to reduce impaired road use while promoting traffic safety for our entire community — pedestrians, scooters, bikes, drivers, and passengers.
From day one, safety has been our number one priority for drivers and passengers at Lyft. And as our business has expanded to include additional mobility options, including self-driving cars (live in Las Vegas) and electric bikes and scooters (live in Denver and Santa Monica), we’re continuously committed to safety by providing the necessary education and support for all riders, all while working with critical partners like GHSA to help us get there.
Here are a few ways we’re already committing to building safer communities:
Ride Smart program, including our partnership with Budweiser and local partnerships with organizations such as the Georgia Craft Brewers Guild and the Texas Brewers Guild
Together for Safer Roads partnership
Scooter and bike helmet giveaways in local markets
24/7 Critical Response Line
Two-way rating system for drivers and passengers We look forward to working with the GHSA team and will update you here on the blog once we have more information to share about the selected pilot projects.
