Lyft designers are the driving force behind how we frame the consumer experience and tackle problems like shaping behavior change and reimagining cities. We’re excited to continue that momentum as we welcome a new group of talented and expert designers to the Lyft family. Directors Brian Ng, Jessica Rosenberger, Renato Valdés Olmos, Nick Barrett, and Rocky Jacob are the newest additions to an incredibly talented team of designers!
These five directors are joining VP of Design Katie Dill’s leadership team, which already includes Audrey Liu, Director of driver product design; Monal Chokshi, who leads user experience research; and Grace Hwang, leading design producers. This group will be at the forefront of shaping the Lyft experience for riders, drivers, and business partners:
Brian joins Lyft with more than 20 years of experience working in product design, on everything from the Motorola Razr and Yahoo! Fantasy Football to leading design teams at Salesforce and Apple. Most recently, he spent more than three years at SugarCRM as a VP of Design and Product and a VP of User Experience Design.
Born and raised on the south side of Chicago, Brian is a strong advocate for bringing human-centered design to product development. At Lyft, Brian will focus on the Platform, with an emphasis on Enterprise, Pay, Identity, Data Platform, and Internal Productivity.
Before joining Lyft, Jessica was the Director of UX at Salesforce, where she conceptualized and launched new AI product offerings for productivity tools.
Before her time at Salesforce, Jessica held roles in design leadership at companies like Fitbit, Athenahealth, Frog, and Pentagram Design.
At Lyft, Jessica’s work will primarily focus on the passenger and driver experience for the Growth team.
Renato joins us from Honor, where he was Head of Design and a member of the founding executive team that redesigned the senior home care industry. He grew Honor’s award winning Product Design and Brand & Communication Design teams through several stages of the company and set a new bar for design in the healthcare industry. Prior to honor, he founded several technology and design companies in Europe, including popular fitness tracker Human, which got acquired by Mapbox in 2016.
At Lyft, Renato will oversee the entire Core experience, which includes Passenger, Transit, Bikes and Scooters, Marketplace, and AV.
Nick has worked for multiple start-ups and design studios over the years, partnering with both early-stage companies and Fortune 50s to build all manner of product, service, and UX/UI.
His last role was the Managing Director of a local industrial design studio, Branch. Prior to that, he was the VP of Services and a product development lead at Ammunition. Nick will be working with the Bikes and Scooters division to help build out Lyft’s industrial design practice, manage outside agencies, and lead our large product engagements.
Rocky is a strong advocate for holistic design solutions that consider both the digital and physical realm of a product equally. He has an extensive background in industrial design, having held leadership positions at Nest and Google before advising several startups in Silicon Valley. Most recently, Rocky was Chief Product Officer at LVMH’s Rimowa, a 120-year-old German heritage brand.
Rocky will also help build and guide Lyft’s industrial design team and work closely with other leads on implementing holistic design strategies for Bikes and Scooters. We’re excited to grow such a strong design culture with these talented directors on the team. Welcome Brian, Jessica, Renato, Nick, and Rocky to Lyft!
