Lyft aggregated the data and identified the subtle — and not so subtle — differences in how each sign cycles around the city. Who rides faster — Aries or Leo? Who loves Park Slope most? It’s in the stars — ahem, the data!
ARIES
(March 21 – April 19)
Aries are fierce and fiery, so of course they gravitate to the thick of it all in Downtown Brooklyn. Their competitive nature comes out on a bike as well: Aries are the fastest riders out there.
TAURUS
(April 20 – May 20)
Tauruses are chill — so no wonder they gravitate to the wide-open, natural spaces in Park Slope. Their stubborn and persevering side shows while biking too: They are most likely to ride a Citi Bike for more than five miles.
GEMINI
(May 21 – June 21)
Geminis are playful, so it makes sense they’re attracted to the bustling bars in the East Village and Lower East Side. But even those hoods won’t be enough to consistently satisfy a Gemini’s burning curiosity — they are also most likely to cross boroughs on a Citi Bike.
CANCER
(June 22 – July 22)
Cancers have a reputation for being hyper-emotional. It’s apropos then that they often head to edgy, artsy Bushwick. They also take the longest rides — and we’re guessing they’re traveling long distances to see the friends and family they’re fiercely loyal to.
LEO
(July 23 – August 22)
Given how much Leos love attention, it’s natural that they end up in SoHo and the West Village, where people go to see and be seen. And their fierce love of the sun gets them up early: They’re most likely to do a morning commute via Citi Bike.
VIRGO
(August 23 – September 22)
Virgos are famously clean and perfectionistic, traits that likely draw them to manicured neighborhoods, like those surrounding Central Park. They are hard workers, too, which may explain why they don’t have time for weekday jaunts — they’re most likely to ride on the weekend.
LIBRA
(September 23 – October 22)
Libras are all about balance, ease, and nature, so it’s little wonder that they tend to pop over to residential, leafy neighborhoods like Morningside Heights and Yorkville. They definitely aren’t rushing either; Libras are the slowest, most leisurely Citi Bikers.
SCORPIO
(October 23 – November 21)
Mysterious and calculating, Scorpios are drawn to the intellectual corners of the Upper West Side. Ruthless with their goals, Scorpios will not be stopped — not even in sub-zero temperatures. So it’s no surprise: They are most likely to bike in the winter.
SAGITTARIUS
(November 22 – December 21)
Lively and passionate, Sagittarians are drawn to Harlem, with its vibrant history and culture. Their rebellious side may tempt them to play hooky from work — which could explain why they’re most likely to take off on mid-workday bike jaunts.
CAPRICORN
(December 22 – January 19)
With all that ambition rumbling around inside them, it makes sense that Capricorns end up in Midtown. That determined spirit could also explain why they buck the electric trend: Capricorns are most likely to opt for a good old-fashioned pedal-powered bike.
AQUARIUS
(January 20 – February 18)
Aquarians are free thinkers and big dreamers but can be a bit detached. Post-work, they’re most likely to commute home on a Citi Bike — perhaps that p.m. cycling helps them clear their heads after a long day. They’re also unconventional: No surprise then that they tend to explore less-traveled routes in Queens and South Brooklyn.
PISCES
(February 19 – March 20)
Highly creative and empathetic, Pisces are true water signs — so no wonder they’re drawn to the waterfront-centric hood of Brooklyn Heights. But Pisces can also be a little closed off: Maybe that’s why they’re least likely to venture to a different borough.
