Caring for the Bay Wheels Community

In partnership with the MTC and our partner cities, Bay Wheels is offering a 30-day program to give critical healthcare workers free bikeshare memberships. Through May 31st, eligible healthcare workers can sign up through their employer to access unlimited 45-minute trips on Classic bikes and ebikes for 30 days. Reach out to herobikes@lyft.com if you are an essential healthcare organization and want to participate in the program.

The health and safety of our community is our top priority. With recent news around coronavirus (COVID-19), we know you may have questions about how we can all do our part to keep the community healthy. We want to share the actions we’re taking to help protect you — and what you can do to help. Learn more here.

HOW TO ENROLL

Employer: Please complete this short form for your organization to participate in the free 30-day membership employee offer. Upon completion of the form, we will work with you to set up the program and provide all relevant details for employees to get started.

Employee: Once you have received the program code from your employer, please follow these instructions by May 31st:

  • Go to baywheels.com and select ‘Register/Sign In’.
  • Sign in (using the phone number associated with your Bay Wheels or Lyft account).
  • Select See Plans under Membership Details.
  • Click on the “Healthcare Worker” link.
  • Enter program code into Discounted Memberships popup.

The free 30-day membership is effective starting on your signup date. At the end of the 30-day period, it does not auto-renew and there is no obligation to continue the membership.

After the 30 days, if you are interested in purchasing a membership, learn more here.

If you’re an existing Bay Wheels member, please contact us to get credit that can be used toward ebike rentals.

FEES

All participants will be asked to enter their credit card information for any fees that may accrue.

  • Usage Fee: Membership includes unlimited 45-minute rides on both Classic and ebikes. If you keep a bike longer than 45 minutes, it’s an extra $3 per additional 15 minutes.
    • Out of service area fee: Ebike riders will be charged an out of service area fee of $20 for bikes returned outside the service area.
View the service area map here.
    • Lost bike charge: If you have kept a bike out for more than 24 consecutive hours, it is considered lost or stolen and there is a fee of $1,200 (plus tax). This can also happen if you did not dock your bike properly, so your ride stayed open, and someone else took the bike and has not returned it. Learn more.
